Understanding the Prairie Lakes Dental Difference

When you first call our office you will be greeted by our Patient Care Coordinators on the phone. They will assist you with answering any questions that you may have, and find a convenient appointment time that suits your schedule. Our entire staff is caring and compassionate, which in turn makes for a great dental experience. We pride ourselves in producing a positive environment for our patients to enjoy and feel at home with us.

Your First Visit

If you are visiting our office for the first time, we will review your medical and dental histories and discuss if you have any concerns with your dental health. If you do not have recent x-rays taken at a previous office, we will also take new diagnostic x-rays and perform a comprehensive exam. Most of the time, we will also clean your teeth at that first appointment as well. If you require more extensive gum therapy, we will schedule another appointment for you in order to complete your cleaning treatment.

If you are coming into our office for the first time on an emergency basis, your immediate needs will be addressed that day. If desired, we will then reschedule you for a comprehensive exam.

You may save yourself time by downloading our patient registration and medical history forms.

Cancellations

We ask that you give our office at least 24 hours notice if you will be unable to make your appointment as scheduled. Doing so allows us to offer the appointment to another patient who may be needing care. If you do need to change your appointment, we will assist you to find a convenient time to schedule your dental treatment.

What age should I bring my child in for their first exam?

We do recommend to start child dental exams between 2-3 years of age. We realize that each child is different, and may have varying degrees of comfort in the chair for the first time. Some children allow us to clean their teeth and complete an exam, while others simply take a ride in the chair, or sit on Mom or Dad’s lap for the exam. Our goal is to make their first visit to the dentist a positive memory!
